Northern Ohio PGA 2017 Pro Assistant

Evolve Golf went on the road to The Mayfield Sand Ridge Club for the 2017 Northern Ohio PGA Pro Assistants for another edition of their Total Driving Challenge. It was one of the best days of the year so far in Northern Ohio for golf. After a slight frost delay in the morning the sun came out and the temperature rose into the 70’s with a light breeze. The 3rd hole was the sight of the Total Distance Challenge. The 3rd hole was a difficult uphill dogleg right par 5 with a bunker on the left and woods on the right. Hitting a high booming drive was crucial for a player to have a chance to get to the flat landing area and have a shot to reach the green in two.
There were many great drives as the temperature rose and players were able to reach past the uphill in order to gain some roll. There was a tie for 2nd place in this edition. The tie was between Garrett Korte of The Country Club and Nathan Tarter of Firestone CC.  The winner of this Total Driving Challenge was Gregory Smith. Greg drove his golf ball 297 yards up the hill and managed to only stray 1 yard off of center! Thank you to all the players and who came out and played and congratulations to our winners.
Evolve Golf would like to thank Mark Evans and his entire staff for hosting a wonderful event. We also would like to thank David Griffith and the rest of the Northern Ohio PGA Section for running another flawless event. We look forward to our continued partnership with the Northern Ohio Section and all their members.
