2019 MET Pro Assistant TDC-Long Island and Westchester

It was a busy week with Evolve Golf, as we joined the Metropolitan section for a double decker event on Monday, April 22nd, 2019.  Evolve packed up the car and headed up to Manahasset, New York for the Long Island Pro-Assistant and to Suffern, New York for the Westchester Pro-Assistant.

In Long Island, our Total Driving challenge set up home at North Hills Country Club. It was hosted on hole 14, a straight forward par 5 playing 497 yards. With a large bunker on the left side just 260 yards out it made it difficult for the PGA Professionals to hit the landing area. A long straight drive gave the players an opportunity for a long iron or hybrid approach to an elevated green, which was guarded by bunkers. The tough weather conditions made it even more difficult for the players, with a steady crosswind and rain throughout the afternoon.

Third place finish in the TDC after ranking the distance and accuracy numbers went to JD Guiney with a 289 yard drive just 2 yards off center. Josh Rackley hit a 277 yard drive just 1 yard off center to finish in second place. First place in the Total Driving Challenge went to Eric Brelowski with a 293 yard bomb of the drive just off center of the fairway.

At the Westchester Pro-assistant, the Total Driving Challenge was held on hole 15, at Spook Rock Golf Course. Hole 15, a 540 yard par 5, with a slight dogleg to the left, also had two large bunkers 260 yards out on the left side and a bunker 250 on the right side. Through out the day, there was a consistent 15-20 mile per hour winds straight into the PGA Professionals face, making the par 5 only reachable in two for a few players. Consistent rain through the day as well, made it very different for players to hit the fairway.

Third place finish in the TDC after ranking the distance and accuracy numbers went to Paul Pastore with a 291 yard drive just 4 yards off center. Niall Kelly with a 292 yard yard drive just 4 yards off center to finish in second place. First place in the Total Driving Challenge went to Charlie Maizel with a 301 yard bomb of the drive just 4 yards off of center of the fairway.
