Unseasonably warm temperatures and a full field of competitors made for a top-notch event for the 2016 Carolinas PGA Pro-Pro Championship. Over 300 PGA professionals descended on Pinehurst for the opportunity to compete in a 3-day team event, which for the first time included a round at the infamous Pinehurst No. 2. Evolve Golf was able to host our Total Distance Challenge on the 12th hole at the Mid-South Club. This 450 yard, par 4 had a bunker in play on both sides of the hole as well as mature pines demanding the players hit a long and accurate tee shot for any chance at birdie.
Windy conditions the first two days made it difficult for professional to hit it deep. Elliot Jones from Myers Park Country Club took home first place in the Total Distance Challenge with a 300 yard drive right in the center of the fairway. Second place went to John Faidley at Forsyth Country Club with a 299 yard drive just 1 yard off the centerline. Andrew Bateman from Diamond Creek Golf Club finished third with a 301 drive just 2 off center.
Evolve Golf would like to thank Brian Anderson, PGA and his staff at the Mid South Club for their hospitality and the excellent course conditions. Evolve Golf is also thankful for the efforts of Jeff Abbott and the entire Carolina’s PGA staff for conducting a flawless event in Pinehurst.
