2016 Carolinas PGA Head Professional Championship Total Driving Challenge Results

2016 Carolinas PGA Head Professional Championship

Over the past couple years the CPGA Head Professionals Championship has been known to test players with cold and wet conditions. This year’s Championship was a much warmer and drier affair. Players were treated to 2 beautifully warm and sunny days at the exceptional Wexford Golf Club. Evolve Golf set up for the first leg of the 2016 Total Distance Challenge Tour on the par 4, 10th Hole. A slight helping wind both days lead to some great drives on the tight driving hole. With a drive of 300 yards, and only 3 yards off center, Mr. Billy Anderson placed third. Second place goes to Luke Lovell with a drive of 292 yards, and just 1 yard off center. Our first winner of the 2016 season is Mr. Brian Joyce, with a drive of 298 yards, and 1 yard off center. As you can see from the results, this was one of the tightest finishes we have ever had. Congratulations to the tournament winner Mr. Kelly Mitchum, and to the winners of the Evolve Golf Total Distance Challenge.

Welcome to the Total Driving Challenge

Total Driving Challenge Tour

What if the game were slimmed down?
Way down.
Way, way down.
Down to one day.
Down to one fairway.
Down to one drive.

How would you measure the game? Would you rise to the top of the leaderboard? That’s what Evolve Golf’s Total Driving Challenge is all about.

The Total Driving Challenge is more than a long drive event. It’s a live competition that is being held at 16 different PGA section tournaments in 2016. The TDC places a premium on both distance and accuracy, pitting PGA Professionals against each other, and ranking them on their total distance as well as their accuracy from the center-line of the fairway.

That’s it. One tee, one ball, one shot.

Evolve first started the TDC here at home during a Carolinas PGA section tournament to demonstrate the value of the Epoch golf tee. Since then, it has grown in popularity among the pros who love the single-shot, winner-take-all competition. And as demand grew, so did the TDC, into it’s own “tour within a tour.” You can track the TDC results here.

2015 Carolinas PGA Pro-Pro Championship Total Driving Challenge Results

The play conditions varied greatly from day to day for he Carolina PGA Pro-Pro in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Evolve Golf was at Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst’s Magnolia Course for our Total Driving Challenge. The eighth hole is a long and winding par 5 that called for a very precise tee shot. Day one saw a chilly, foggy day, with limited visibility, and wet conditions. Day two was much warmer, but rain moved in during the last half of the round. The final day of play was by far the coldest, but a clear sky and bright sunshine made for a beautiful day. We had great drives each day, but a few stood out among the others. On day 1 Chase Adams hit a drive of 292 yards and 2 yards off center to take third place. Also on day one Clark Rose had a drive of 293 yards and only 2 yards off line. Our winner came from day 2 when Mr. Ryan Schmidt struck a drive of 298 in the dead center of the fairway.

The Resort Course at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach was in beautiful condition for the CPGA Professional Championship. Heat and humidity are to be expected for Myrtle Beach in August, but the weather was kind for the event. Evolve Golf set up the long 475 yard par 4 third hold for the Total Distance Challenge. We measured each players distance, and accuracy over 2 days of competition, then took their average rank against the field for our results. In third place with a drive of 291 yards, and 1 yard off the center line, Scooter Buhrman of Gates Four Golf & Country Club. Mr. Brett Lascara had a drive of 303 yards, and just 2 yards off center to take home 2nd place honors. Finally, our winner, with a drive of 294 yards, and just 1 yard off the center line Chase Butler! Congrats to all the players! A big thanks to The Resort Course at Grand Dunes staff, and all the CPGA Staff! Another great CPGA Professional Championship!

Beautiful River Landing Country Club in Wallace, NC hosted more than 150 PGA Professionals for the annual Carolinas PGA Pro Assistant Championship. The 15th hole played into a stiff breeze for both days of the Evolve Golf Total Distance Challenge. Contestants unleashed a barrage of impressive drives into double digit winds. Darrell Possey’s drive of 287 yards at one yard off center was just enough to edge out a tight field for third place. Second place was claimed by Jared Speight’s 290 yard drive at 1 yard off center. Brooks Blackburn claimed the top spot for the second year in a row with 289 yard drive straight down the target line. Congratulations to our winners, and the tournament Champions Bryce Chaffee and Mike Taylor. Thanks to everyone at River Landing Country Club for their hard work and hospitality.

2015 Carolinas PGA Head Professional Championship Total Driving Challenge Results

Cold and soggy conditions could not dampen the first day of the Carolina’s PGA Head Professional Championship at the beautiful and immaculate Berkeley Hall Golf Club. The 467 yard long 18th hole played brutal host for the Total Driving Challenge. Competitor’s drives were robbed of any roll.

Day two of the championship gave us a glimmer of spring and featured much drier conditions, but the fairways still would not yield much roll.  The second to last group of the day brought out the winning drive.  Brooks Blackburn struck a laser straight drive of 290 yards that landed a half yard off the mark. Mr. Blackburn went on to win the CPGA Head Professionals Championship.  Derek Easter claimed second place with a 286 yard drive that landed 3 yards from the target and Steve Isley finished in the money with a 280 yard drive 3 yards from center.  Congratulations to all;

2014 Evolve Golf Total Distance Challenge

The season ending edition of the 2014 Evolve Golf Total Distance Challenge took place on the 9th hole of Pinehurst #4. The 522 yard par 4 played exceptionally long due to the cold and wet playing conditions. Despite the challenging weather the contestants turned in several good drives, but one stood out over the others. Chad Ferrell was in one of the first groups through on Tuesday morning, and set a mark that stood for the rest of the tournament. His 305 yard poke was only .2 yards off the center line. He led in both the distance, and accuracy categories. John Thompson followed up in second with drive of 280, only 2 yards off the center line. And in third was Blair Smith with a drive of 286, and 4 yards off center.

Evolve Golf’s Epoch Performance Tee Dominates Competition in Two More Independent Lab Tests

Patented, Tour-Proven Design Shown to Improve
Distance and Accuracy

Sunset Beach, NC October 19, 2010 – Evolve Golf, Inc.

News Summary

  • Evolve Golf confirms recent independent testing conducted at both GolfTest USA and Golf Laboratories showed the company’s patented, Tour-proven Epoch performance tee provides significantly greater total distance and accuracy than competing products.
  • Featuring a robot and players with a wide variety of handicaps and swing speeds, these are the latest in a series of tests to support the distinct advantages golfers of all abilities can gain by using the Epoch.
  • Using a launch monitor, GolfTest USA compared the Epoch to a three-post composite tee, an offset composite tee and a traditional wooden tee. According to the data acquired from 20 male and female golfers hitting multiple shots with each tee, the Epoch proved on average to be:

11.6 yards longer and 1.6 yards more accurate than the three-post composite tee

9.0 yards longer and 4.7 yards more accurate than the traditional wooden tee

7.3 yards longer and 2.2 yards more accurate than the offset composite tee

  • Those results were mirrored by Golf Laboratories, which conducted its tests at a swing speed of 95 mph using a robot and launch monitor in a controlled test environment. Under these conditions, the Epoch was shown to be:

1.8 yards longer and 2.0 yards more accurate than the three-post composite tee

5.8 yards longer and 2.7 yards more accurate than the traditional wooden tee

3.4 yards longer and 3.0 yards more accurate than the offset composite tee

  • Since its 2004 debut, the Epoch has been part of 127 major Tour wins, including 48 PGA Tour victories. Used weekly by scores of PGA Tour players it is the only performance tee with radius posts that span the width of a golf ball dimple. This unique feature creates the lowest coefficient of friction of any tee, eliminating deflection at impact and increasing ball speed and control.
  • Like all Evolve Golf products and packaging, the Epoch is environmentally friendly. Made from recycled materials, the design is significantly more durable than its wooden counterparts and not harmful to mower blades.

Quotes

Attributed to: BJ Maloy, Founder & CEO, Evolve Golf, Inc.

“The test results go hand-in-hand with the fact that so many of the world’s best players trust the Epoch’s performance advantages to help them win on Tour,” says BJ Maloy, Founder and CEO of Evolve Golf. “When the variability of each golfer’s swing is evaluated, golf tee design flaws become blatantly evident. Whether it’s a test featuring a robot in controlled conditions or average men and women swinging away, our tees are quite literally outpacing the competition.”
