2017 Northern Texas PGA Pro Assistant Championship

150 PGA professionals came together to compete at the 2017 Northern Texas PGA Pro-Assistant at the Dallas Athletic Club. With temperatures in the upper 70s and thunderstorms on the horizon, they competition was shortened from 36 holes of continuous stroke play down to 18 holes. Evolve Golf was fortunate to host our first Total Driving Challenge of the 2017 season at the Blue Course’s 13th tee. The 534 yard par 5 had multiple bunkers guarding the right hand side that challenged players to hit a long and accurate tee shot to have any chance of going for the green in two.

The ominous thunderstorms approaching from the south gave players a helping wind on this par 5. Brian McKinley took home first place in our total distance challenge on the blue course with a 295 yard drive just 1 yard off the centerline. Second place went to Ronnie O’Brien with a 316 yard drive just 5 yards from the center. Jason Hase finished in third place with a 313 yard drive that was also 5 yards off center.

Evolve Golf would like to thank Lance Patterson, PGA and his staff for hosting the event and providing top-notch course conditions for the Pro Assistant. Evolve Golf is also appreciative of the flawlessly run event by Mark Harrison and the entire NTPGA Staff. We look forward to our continued partnership with the section and hope to return for another Total Driving Challenge soon!

2016 Georgia PGA Pro Pro Championship

The Evolve team loaded up and headed south for a few days to join the Georgia PGA for the 2016 Pro-Pro Championship at Sea Island Golf Club. The scenic views and warm weather brought players from all over the state out to the event. Players rolled out of their carts Monday morning with rain gear and umbrellas to ward off the severe storms that were in the forecast. The overcast skies parted and lead to sunshine as the Evolve team set up shop on the Par 4 399 yard 10th hole of the Seaside course. Players needed to be precise with their tee shots with a large fairway bunker right and a water hazard left spelling trouble for any errant drives.

There was a nice breeze at the players back both days which encouraged players to reach for the driver. The early morning rain shower Tuesday morning made it difficult for players to get any roll out from their tee shots.

Aaron Elrod secured third place with a drive of 301 yards that was 1 yard off the center line. Second place was taken by Jeff Cammon with a drive of 310 and right on the center line. Jacob Tilton weighed in with a huge drive of 320 yards that was dead on the center to claim the top spot in the Evolve Golf Total Driving Challenge.

Evolve Golf would like to thank John Wade, PGA and his staff at Sea Island Golf Club for their hospitality and the championship course conditions. Evolve Golf would also like to thank the Georgia PGA for their help and hospitality over the two days at Sea Island.

2016 Carolinas PGA Pro-Pro Championship

2016-carolinas-pga-pro-pro-championship

Unseasonably warm temperatures and a full field of competitors made for a top-notch event for the 2016 Carolinas PGA Pro-Pro Championship. Over 300 PGA professionals descended on Pinehurst for the opportunity to compete in a 3-day team event, which for the first time included a round at the infamous Pinehurst No. 2. Evolve Golf was able to host our Total Distance Challenge on the 12th hole at the Mid-South Club. This 450 yard, par 4 had a bunker in play on both sides of the hole as well as mature pines demanding the players hit a long and accurate tee shot for any chance at birdie.

Windy conditions the first two days made it difficult for professional to hit it deep. Elliot Jones from Myers Park Country Club took home first place in the Total Distance Challenge with a 300 yard drive right in the center of the fairway. Second place went to John Faidley at Forsyth Country Club with a 299 yard drive just 1 yard off the centerline. Andrew Bateman from Diamond Creek Golf Club finished third with a 301 drive just 2 off center.

Evolve Golf would like to thank Brian Anderson, PGA and his staff at the Mid South Club for their hospitality and the excellent course conditions. Evolve Golf is also thankful for the efforts of Jeff Abbott and the entire Carolina’s PGA staff for conducting a flawless event in Pinehurst.

2016 Southern California PGA Pro-Assistant Championship

2016-southern-california-pga-2016-pro-assistant-championship-post

The Evolve team packed up and headed out west to Mission Hills Country Club for the 2016 Southern California PGA Pro-Assistant Championship. The mountainous terrain and dry desert heat played no factor in the field’s performance. Jim Robinson and his staff at Mission Hills Country Club had the course in prime condition. With temperatures fluctuating from the upper 90’s to the low 100’s both days, players made sure to grab a few more water bottles before heading out to their assigned holes. The Evolve team set-up shop on the 9th hole of the Pete Dye Challenge Course. The players were facing a risk reward 538-yard Par 5 with water along the left and a fairway bunker surrounded by thick rough guarding the right side. Players found that taking it over the bunker on the right, was the safe bet and better angle for reaching the green in two.
Michael Diette, from Palos Verdes Golf Club captured the 3rd place spot with a drive of 305 yards and just 2 yards off the center line. Evan Biundo, from Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club took second place with an impressive drive of 301 yards and right on the center line. Chris Gilley, from La Quinta Country Club must’ve known he was going to bring home the top spot, since he was jumping up in down in the fairway as he walked up to his 305 yard drive sitting right on the center line.
Evolve Golf would like to thank the Southern California PGA section staff for running a remarkable event and making sure all participants and sponsors were taken care of.

Thank you to all competitors and congratulations to the winners of this year’s TDC.

2016 Illinois PGA Pro-Pro Championship

2016-il-pga-pro-pro-tdcSlightly overcast 80 degree weather presented an inviting setup for the 2016 Illinois PGA Pro-Pro Championship, hosted at the beautiful Bull Valley Golf Club. A 1 p.m. shotgun kicked off the four ball stroke play tournament. The staggering landscape and ideal weather held promise for a great day of golf! Evolve Golf set up The Total Distance Challenge on hole 17, which happens to be the course’s longest par 5 and notably named “The Three Shotter”, a 558 yard 5 par hole. The par 5 featured out of bounds tight to the left and rolling hills to the right. Early afternoon wind gusts nds encouraged the players to aim straight and far down the center line.

Timothy Staples from Old Elm Club captured 3rd place with a 295 yard drive that was 1 yard off the center line. Kyle English from Crestwicke Country Club comes in second with a 323 yard drive that was 3 yards off the center line. Finally, reigning in the 1st place spot, Brian Psenicnik from Twin Orchard Country Club had a 308 yard drive that was 1 yard off the centerline.

Evolve Golf would like to thank the Illinois PGA section staff for organizing a wonderful event. A special thank you to Michael Picciano and his staff who were gracious hosts at the gorgeous Bull Valley Golf Club.

2016 CPGA Pro Asst

Early morning sunshine peaked through the pine trees in Wallace, NC for the 2016 CPGA Pro-Assistant championship. This two-person best ball competition was well attended by 154 PGA professionals from the Carolinas Section. A special thank you to Larry George and his staff who were gracious hosts as always at the beautiful River Landing Country Club.

The Total Driving Challenge was set up on the 15th hole of the River Course. Water hazards and out of bounds guarded both sides on the fairway, forcing players to make an accurate tee shot to keep it in the field of play. Relentless waves of severe thunderstorms cancelled the second round, limiting our Total Distance Challenge to the field’s first day drives.

Thank you to all the competitors and congratulations to the winners of this year’s TDC.

2016 Philadelphia PGA Laurel Creek Classic

2016 Philly PGA Laurel Creek Classic

Morning clouds gave way to sunshine and upper 70s at the Laurel Creek Classic in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. This individual stroke play event consisted of 100 PGA professionals in the Philadelphia section. The Laurel Creek Classic was graciously hosted by John DiMarco and his staff at Laurel Creek Country Club. Evolve Golf conducted our Total Driving Challenge on the par 4, 12th hole. The slight dog-leg played 420 yards from the championship tees and 357 from the ladies tees for the section event. The forced carry over a natural area and large bunker guarding the left side of the hole challenged the competitors to hit both a long and accurate tee shot.

Greg Matthias of Tavistock CC came in first place with a drive of 288 and on the center line. Second place went to Andrew Turner of Whitford Country Club and third place for Rick McCall at Wild Quail Golf and CC. Mike Furey from Mahoning Valley Country Club took home first place in the section event after an outstanding (-5) 66.

Evolve Golf would like to thank the Philadelphia PGA section staff for allowing us to be a supporting sponsor of the event. We would also like to thank the PGA professionals attending the event and their support Evolve Golf’s line of essential golf accessories.

2016 No CA PGA Senior-Junior Championship_TDC

Evolve Golf took the Total Driving Challenge across the country for the Northern California Senior-Junior Championship at Spring Valley Golf Club in Milpitas, CA. A beautiful sunny day matched with mid 70’s temps made for a great day of golf. The Total Driving Challenge took place on Hole #9, a short, straight away par 4 taunting golfers to let it rip. This challenge measures professionals on their distance and accuracy from the center of the fairway. At the end of the day, we had 3 professionals who prevailed. Finishing up in third place with an impressive 284-yard drive that was only 1 yard off from the center line was Ed Hester of Cameron Park Country Club. C.J. Snyder out of Round Hill Country Club captured second place with a 296-yard drive that was 1 yard off the center line. And coming in first place was Ryan Williams with an absolute bomb drive of 312 that fell just 1 yard off the center line. 2016 Michigan PGA Spring Scramble

2016 Michigan PGA Spring Scramble
The early forecast was a little bleak for the Michigan Section Spring Scramble, but as the first group stepped up to the Evolve Golf Total Driving Challenge on the 462 yard par 4 first, the clouds parted and the sun appeared. The winds picked up throughout the day, but nothing could put a damper on the beautiful University of Oakland’s Sharf Course! The participants uncorked some very long drives during the day, but when factoring in accuracy, it wasn’t the longest drives that came out on top. In third place we had a tie between Brian Carins and Justin Reynolds who had matching drives of 295 yards, and right in the middle of the fairway. In second, with a drive of 300 yards and also right in the center of the fairway was Josh Proben. The winning drive for the Evolve Golf Total Distance Challenge was Jim Troy with a drive of 305 and dead center of the fairway. A big thanks the staff at The Sharf Course for being so accommodating! Congratulations to all the winners, and the Michigan PGA staff for putting on such a great event!

Patriot Hills drapes rolling hills creating the perfect opportunity to set up the Evolve Total Driving Challenge from an elevated tee into a runaway downhill fairway. Ian Orr claimed the third place position with a drive of 323 yards that settled on the center line. Bobby Peterson claimed the second place position with a drive of 331 that also settled on the center line. 2016 MET PGA Long Island

It was a summer like day at Cold Spring Country Club with temperatures in the mid 70’s and plenty of sunshine. Jim Weiss and the staff at Cold Spring Country Club ran a remarkable tournament. When the clock struck 8 AM players began to head to the lengthy par 5 first hole measuring 565 yards from the blue tees. Out of bounds guarded the left and the range threatened on the right, players had to thread the needle between two large fairway bunkers that were very much in play off the tee. After the day was over Matt Dobyns, from Fresh Meadows Country Club stood at the top of the leaderboard with the winning tee shot of 348 yards and right on the line. Second place was Erik Easton from The Bridge with an impressive drive of 325 yards and just 2 yards off the line. Third place was Kyle Higgins from Inwood Country Club who also hit a notable drive measuring 318 yards and just 2 yards off the line.

2016 Southern Ohio PGA

The Evolve Golf team hit the road and headed to Columbus, OH for the Southern Ohio PGA Spring Pro-Pro Championship this past Monday. With sunny skies and over 80 degree temperatures, it felt more like summer time. Beautiful Scioto Reserve Country Club played host to this event. The Evolve Golf Total Driving Challenge took place on hole #10, a 550-yard Par 5 with a lake on the left forcing most players to bailout to the right of the fairway. We had several professionals disregard the water and bomb one right over it. That paid off for our following winners. Jonathan Christopherson claimed 3rd place with a 302-yard drive that was 4 yards off the center line. Jared Jones placed 2nd with a 303-yard drive that was 2 yards off the center line. And clinching The Total Driving Challenge title was Luke Bowersock with an impressive 302-yard drive that was only 2 yards off the center line. Congrats, gentleman! GA PGA Seciton_2016_Pro Pro Scramble

The 2016 Georgia PGA Pro-Pro Scramble was Evolve Golf’s first event outside of the Carolinas for 2016! We hit the road to visit our longtime customer, and host club, the beautiful Ansley Golf Club. Ansley was in fantastic condition for the event and the cold weather from the previous few days moved out just in time to greet the field with sunny skies. The 6th hole’s long and wide fairway invited players to give it their all off of the tee for the Evolve Golf Total Distance Challenge. A slight headwind added an interesting twist, but the PGA Professionals of the Georgia Section handled it easily. Patrick Richardson claimed third place with a drive of 292 yards that settled neatly 4 yards off the center line. Paddy Higgins claimed second place with a drive of 300 yards that was just 1 yard off center. Jacob Tilton brought the contest to a close with a monster drive of 328 yards that was also only one yard off center to claim Evolve Golf Total Distance Challenge win. A hearty congratulations goes out from the team at Evolve Golf to the winners of the Georgia PGA Pro-Pro Scramble Shawn Koch and Chris Cartwright. 2016 Carolinas PGA Head Professional Championship

Players were treated to 2 beautifully warm and sunny days at the exceptional Wexford Golf Club. Evolve Golf set up for the first leg of the 2016 Total Distance Challenge Tour on the par 4, 10th Hole. A slight helping wind both days lead to some great drives on the tight driving hole. With a drive of 300 yards, and only 3 yards off center, Mr. Billy Anderson placed third. Second place goes to Luke Lovell with a drive of 292 yards, and just 1 yard off center. Our first winner of the 2016 season is Mr. Brian Joyce, with a drive of 298 yards, and 1 yard off center. Welcome to the Total Driving Challenge

Total Driving Challenge Tour

What if the game were slimmed down?
Way down.
Way, way down.
Down to one day.
Down to one fairway.
Down to one drive.

How would you measure the game? Would you rise to the top of the leaderboard? That’s what Evolve Golf’s Total Driving Challenge is all about.

The Total Driving Challenge is more than a long drive event. It’s a live competition that is being held at 16 different PGA section tournaments in 2016. The TDC places a premium on both distance and accuracy, pitting PGA Professionals against each other, and ranking them on their total distance as well as their accuracy from the center-line of the fairway.

That’s it. One tee, one ball, one shot.

Evolve first started the TDC here at home during a Carolinas PGA section tournament to demonstrate the value of the Epoch golf tee. Since then, it has grown in popularity among the pros who love the single-shot, winner-take-all competition. And as demand grew, so did the TDC, into it’s own “tour within a tour.” You can track the TDC results here.

2015 Carolinas PGA Pro-Pro Championship Total Driving Challenge Results

The play conditions varied greatly from day to day for he Carolina PGA Pro-Pro in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Evolve Golf was at Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst’s Magnolia Course for our Total Driving Challenge. The eighth hole is a long and winding par 5 that called for a very precise tee shot. Day one saw a chilly, foggy day, with limited visibility, and wet conditions. Day two was much warmer, but rain moved in during the last half of the round. The final day of play was by far the coldest, but a clear sky and bright sunshine made for a beautiful day. We had great drives each day, but a few stood out among the others. On day 1 Chase Adams hit a drive of 292 yards and 2 yards off center to take third place. Also on day one Clark Rose had a drive of 293 yards and only 2 yards off line. Our winner came from day 2 when Mr. Ryan Schmidt struck a drive of 298 in the dead center of the fairway.
