2017 Northern Texas PGA Pro Assistant Championship

150 PGA professionals came together to compete at the 2017 Northern Texas PGA Pro-Assistant at the Dallas Athletic Club. With temperatures in the upper 70s and thunderstorms on the horizon, they competition was shortened from 36 holes of continuous stroke play down to 18 holes. Evolve Golf was fortunate to host our first Total Driving Challenge of the 2017 season at the Blue Course’s 13th tee. The 534 yard par 5 had multiple bunkers guarding the right hand side that challenged players to hit a long and accurate tee shot to have any chance of going for the green in two.
The ominous thunderstorms approaching from the south gave players a helping wind on this par 5. Brian McKinley took home first place in our total distance challenge on the blue course with a 295 yard drive just 1 yard off the centerline. Second place went to Ronnie O’Brien with a 316 yard drive just 5 yards from the center. Jason Hase finished in third place with a 313 yard drive that was also 5 yards off center.
Evolve Golf would like to thank Lance Patterson, PGA and his staff for hosting the event and providing top-notch course conditions for the Pro Assistant. Evolve Golf is also appreciative of the flawlessly run event by Mark Harrison and the entire NTPGA Staff. We look forward to our continued partnership with the section and hope to return for another Total Driving Challenge soon!
